2022

Sparrow Schools - R140 000

Sparrow Schools implemented Phono-Graphix at The Foundation School at the beginning of Term 4 in October 2022 to our Grade 4 – 7 learners. Phono-Graphix (represented by Read for Africa) tutors came to Sparrow to assess the 168 learners they would be working with. This program has been created to assist children with learning disabilities. Hot Slots has supported this school in donating R140 000 to assist with implementing the program. Our team visited sparrow to handover a cheque and meet the wonderful, selfless teachers as well as the little ones attending the program. It was a wholesome experience for all being able to sit in and experience how the program is presented.

Corinthians - R180 000

Corinthians is a social development organisation and non-profit organisation that uses sport and education as vehicles to transform the lives of vulnerable and at-risk children and youth, their families and communities. The focus is on using sport to enable social integration of the marginalised youth, the disabled youth and at-risk youth to participate and contribute meaningfully in the community and their socio-economic life. The organisation is based in Johannesburg South and uses games like blind soccer cricket and other recreational activities. Hotslots sponsored a Vehicle that will be used to transport the blind soccer team to their matches.

Coach - R150 000

COACH comprises three children's homes namely, St George's Home, St Nicolas Home and St Joseph's Homes. St George's Home is situated in Kempton Park and caters for youth between the ages of 14 and 18 who have previously been homeless and cannot cope in mainstream school. The home is dedicated to helping our youth reach their greatest potential with a strong emphasis on providing quality care and love so that they have an opportunity to experience a stable foundation to build a wholesome, healthy, and independent life. Here, the children's physical, educational, emotional, health and social needs are met. The goal is to reunite the child with the family or relevant foster family. Hotslots had visited the organization to handover a cheque and meet the selfless people that assist in running this organization. We donated R150 000 which will be allocated to the following courses ABET Matric, Adult basic education as well as food and housing for the kids.

Persevere Until Something Happens (PUSH)

CONTRIBUTED R50 000

PUSH was established by the realization that there exists a need in the community to initiate “within reach” treatment, Support centers and services to meet the need of the community, to fight against the escalating HIV/AIDS pandemic. Centers strongly support the decentralization of community-based AIDS programs. PUSH is not replacing existing Treatment and Care Centers but rather is a supplement to already existing HIV/AIDS programs.

Tateni Community Care Services

CONTRIBUTED R30 000

Tateni Community Care Service has been providing services to the community of Mamelodi for over 22years. This organisation provides holistic care and support to orphans and vulnerable children, youth and the elderly. They needed assistance to render various programmes on their “Breaking the Cycle of Poverty” initiative. This initiative aims at equipping young people for adulthood and to “break free” from those forces keeping them locked into poverty.

Coalition of Anglican Children’s Homes (COACH)

CONTRIBUTED R50 000

COACH comprises three children's homes namely, St George's Home, St Nicolas Home and St Joseph's Homes. The home is dedicated to helping our youth reach their greatest potential with a strong emphasis on providing quality care and love so that they have an opportunity to experience a stable foundation to build a wholesome, healthy and independent life.

Resthaven Ministries

CONTRIBUTED R56 000

Resthaven Ministries is a NPO that looks after orphaned or abandoned kids living with HIV/Aids. They also have 2 homes that care for state pensioners who have been abandoned by their families. Resthaven provides daily necessities for the people they look after as well as medication and schooling. They also have various feeding schemes in the Rosettenville area catering to the homeless and destitute.

Contributed: R120 000.

Kids Haven provides a safe & secure environment for boys & girls who have lived & worked on the streets & who have been removed from abusive homes. They ensure that all their children attend school & they provide skills training for those children who cannot cope in a mainstream academic environment. Kids Haven runs a Bridging School facility as well as a Nursery school, they believe that Education is the cornerstone of rehabilitation. Kids Haven provides 24hr residential care for these children.

Tswelopele Frail Care Centre (TFCC)

Project: Incomaster incontinent waste disposal system.

Contributed R160 000.

TFCC was established on 01 April 2005 resulting from the discontinuation of services that were rendered by Emseni Chronic Care Unit which was part of Rhema Service Foundation. This organisation assists the community greatly with care for the elderly and less advantaged

KYP’s mission is to provide opportunities that will enable our young people to rise out of poverty. We seek to develop young and dynamic individuals who are willing to contribute effectively for the betterment of their community.

2019

WRAP, Westonaria Libanon

Contributed R100 000

WRAP is an independent community based Non-Profit organization emerging from the Greater Westonaria Outbreak Response Team in 2000. It’s a multi-disciplinary body consisting of members in public, private and mining sectors working together to prevent and manage STI’s, HIV and other related Health in an inter-sectoral approach. Hot Slots granted a funding of R100 000 to this organisation. The funding will be used towards a mobile clinic that will operate in the area.

PUSH is based in Eldorado Park, which is situated 25km South West of Johannesburg, established in May 2001. Eldorado Park is surrounded by four informal settlement areas and has an approximate population of 550,000 to 600,000 people.

This initiative aims at equipping young people for adulthood and to “break free” from those forces keeping them locked into poverty.

Hot Slots assisted this Organization with R150 000 so that they can continue to make a difference to the lives of the people in Mamelodi. Hot Slots also visited this NGO on Mandela day and necessities for their beneficiaries.

Kids Haven currently has 145 - 150 children in their care. 33 children ages 3-6 are in Pre-school. 54 BIG BOYS stay in the shelter & 90 GIRLS and SMALL BOYS at the village. The village has 6 houses. The children are made up of 51% of girls & 49% of boys.

Hot Slots donated R100 000 to the organization so that they can continue to support and care for the kids.

(TFCC) Tswelopele Frail Care Centre

Project: Nissan NP200 2019 demo.

Contributed R100 000.

TFCC was established on 01 April 2005 resulting from the discontinuation of services that were rendered by Emseni Chronic Care Unit which was part of Rhema Service Foundation.

The discontinuation of services by Emseni Chronic Care Unit caused all its employees (Human Resource) to be retrenched and the building was sold to a private property developer.

This process also left Eighty-nine (89) beneficiaries 'homeless' as they could not be accommodated at other institutions.

Few of the retrenched staff members identified an opportunity and took upon themselves to turn the situation around especially for the 89 stranded and destitute beneficiaries. They applied for the NPO and registered the services as Tswelopele Frail Care Centre.

Hot Slots bought the organization a Nissan NP200 2019 demo R100 000 so that they can continue to support and care for the elderly and homeless.

Siqobile Community Based Care

Project: Sewing machines and candle making equipment Speruperu Background.

Contributed: R100 000.

Speruperu is situated West of Johannesburg, within the Westrand District in Westonaria Local Municipality. The exact geographical position is between R28 to Vereeniging, T-junction to Fochville road and lies near South Deep mine and Ellisburg mine.

Speruperu is an informal settlement, the community members comprise of those whose parents worked in farms, who are extremely poor, vulnerable, helpless, isolated without hope. As a mining area, Speruperu experienced an influx of mineworkers and as the mines keep retrenching workers some never went back to their original places of residence with the hope of accessing other work opportunities.

Because of the abovementioned, living conditions, there is an increase in the number of HIV/AIDS infections in this area resulting from prostitution as a means of survival, among other maladaptive behaviors.  Schoolchildren are vulnerable to drug abuse and delinquent tendencies such as bunking school and housebreaking.

 The area lack resources such as electricity and communal taps are used as a source of water supply with one tap catering for ten family units. There are no schools, police stations and recreational facilities. A nearby school is approximately 10 km and falls outside the area in Poortjie.

Hot Slots assisted this Organization with R100 000 so that they can continue to support and care for the community of Speruperu.

2018

Twilight Outreach, Hillbrow JHB

Contributed R10 000.

Twilight Outreach, Hillbrow JHB – main aim is to reintegrate the previously neglected youth “over the age of 18” into mainstream society by giving them skills and affirming their confidence, so that they can become more valuable citizens. Hot Slots visited Twilight on Mandela day and donated warm and snuggly blankets and necessities for the boys valued at R10 000.

COMPASS, Edenvale

Contributed R150 000.

COMPASS, Edenvale – supports and care for abused & abandoned women & children. This organisation provides social services through their own registered social workers and trained, qualified teachers and caregivers for their children within their care to ensure the best level of education and caregiving. Their rehabilitation program for homeless women and children provide professional counselling programs through registered counsellors and mental health practitioners. This organisation depends solely on corporate & consumer sponsorships. They needed financial assistance for normal running costs like water & electricity, petrol etc as they were falling short on a month to month basis due to a decrease in sponsors.  Hot Slots donated R150 000 to the organization so that they can continue to support and care for abused & abandoned women & children.
